Which Email client?

Hi m8s

I am looking to make a migration from Outlook Express to something more solid and that gives me more features. I have been a Netscape Mail user and I think in that time it was much better than OE. I have used Outlook in the office very little so I cannot speak about its capabilities. I like something that gives me the possibility of use different user profiles (identities as OE for example) under the same machine and XP user. I would like an easy way to backup also, and a good addressbook. It would be a plus if it can read directly from Hotmail also, bur I can resolve that issue easy with Hotmail Popper if it is necesary with any client.
I would like to hear what are your recommendations before starting my try perios. I have been looking at Eudora and Outlook principally, but there should be great ones out there that I have not seen.

Thanks a lot!

One word: Thunderbird
:)

It is based on Mozilla and should, in a not so far future, replace the Mozilla e-mail client.

It is just great :) If you already used Netscape's mail, you shouldn't have problem using it. Even if you haven't, it still really easy: even my parents are happy with it and are now e-mails pros :)

Simple, fast, stable, open source, actively developed, secure, with many extensions (plugins) it is the client to use!

I once tryed Opera M2 mail client but wasn't satified... I know some people love it. But its not free and you have to lauchn your web browser just to read emails...

Never liked Eudora or Outlook. Well, I always hated Outlook...:) But thats another story!

Yep! Thunderbird is great. Started looking for a outlook replacement a while back and so far this is the only alternative i have found. I really appreciate the possibilities of moving my profile\mail folder\s to anywhere i like, makes backup a breeze.
:)

I am downloading thunderbird right now. I have tried Eudora and The Bat and didn't like any of them...

Thanks a lot for the help, I will post with my findings.

Be sure to run thunderbird with this option:
Code:
thunderbird.exe -profilemanager
This will get you the profile manager.
Create a profile (or more) and choose the directory you want it/them to be.

I forgot to tell you in the first post...:)
