Dont know what recording software you are using, but i use Recordnow Max, the firmware version is displayed when you open up DRIVE and select your recorder.
thanks for that stevarzo i ran the check it said i had 1.21 it told me no update needed whats the point of putting out new firmware if you dont need it
As an example there is a FirmWare that will update the Pioneer DVR-105 Firmware to 1.30, Region Free, and 2 speed burning with RitekGO3 DVD-R disc. There is also a FirmWare that updates the Pioneer DVR-105 Firmware to 1.30, Region Free, and 2x4All. If you are uncomfortable with upgrading the FirmWare they also have a FirmWare flashing guide.
Updated firmware to 1.3 in my 105, now burning Samsung Be-Alls @ 2x, disks play perfect on my Limit standalone DVD player, also the Be-Alls now boot up in PS2 where i previously had problems with them, excellent.
Which datawrite?
There are "unofficial" firmwares out there that allow 2x recording with all 1x media.
I've done a few datawrite yellow (princo) so far with no errors on write or read.
Some media will not be up to it, however, so just try wring a few and reading them back to the hdd.
Plus different batches may give different results.
Trial and error I'm afraid.
