Whats the procedure for hooking up a hard drive (maxtor) to ps2?

I recently got a v7 ps2 on order and a matrix chip installation scheduled for it and a maxtor 120 gb hard drive as well. But I have no idea what I'm supposed to do with this hard drive once i get it. Can anyone explain how i am supposed to install this thing?
