Is your 106 on as master
Is your ASPI 4.60
Is XP burning disabled

the 106 is on primary slave with master hdd.slot drive is sec master 120gb hdd sec slave.i have had no problems before with the drives like this.

how do i know if xp burning is disabled?
i cannot understand it as sometimes it works ok then it starts to do this.

two things:
- you should tell us what software you are using to backup your DVD;

- if you getting a hidden BSOD, it would be helpful to disable "Automatic Restart": right click at My Computer > properties > enlarged > start and restoring (i'm not sure about the english terms)
so you will get a BSOD instead of a reboot; in the first three lines of the BSOD the trouble causing driver is named;

it's me again; Please don't do double/cross posts anymore! asking one time should suffer; ;)

and you should tell us your destination product, because you wrote the same question in the DVD and in the VCD/SVCD rubric; :confused:

it dosent restart it completely shuts down.
i am using new nero and record now max.
its just backing up dvds.
if i make an image from the writer then back to the writer its ok.but if i need to do an image from dvd rom or on the fly thats when it will shutdown.
but not all the time but most of it.

The 106 is not happy as slave <> ergo put it as master!

I have found that the best (in my case) layout

Fixed Drives <> RAID
DVD burner <> Master Opposite IDE to the DVDROM
CDR Burner <> Slave to the DVD burner
DVDROM <> Master Opposite IDE to DVD Burner
CDROM <> Slave to the DVDROM

If U want to burn on the fly its best to have the ROM on different IDE to the Burner
But it can work as Master & slave but as stated the 106 prefers being a master

All the above sound pretty sensible, but...
Any chance that you are using CloneDVD and AnyDVD for your backups? (besides Nero and RNM).
Also, Nero 6 and RNM 4.5X don't live happily together- try uninstalling one of the two.
Else, try to disable ACPI (from system BIOS).

This honestly sounds like a Power Supply problem. What brand and size PSU are your running? I'd swap power supplies if you have one availiable.
