What would be the best capture program

Ive been using asus digital vcr that came with my graphic card, but doesnt seem to get real good results, then i tryed InterVideo WinDVR 2 but had a lot of trouble with the crack,10 minutes into recording and the program would cut out and ask me to register it,and now it wont even start up,so is there any other really good capture programs out there that people use, that capture in mpeg2 svcd vcd ect, thanks.

I don't think there is any deffinate answer for what you want. Often people use a couple of different tools, from VirtualDub to PowerVCR II deluxe 3 or even whatever comes bundled with their capture cards.
Maybe you should change the question to:
What people are using to capture to mpeg2/svcd/vcd/avi and why they use it?

Good luck

Yeh sorry about that,it was a stupid question,i should of done a search from the start,i typed in capture in the search and it brang up heaps.

I think you should give "Win DVR" another try, there is a Full Version of Win DVR 2 on this site somewere..For me it has produced some of the best Mpeg2 captures of any program I have tried and I have tried allmost all of them,Win Coder 2 is also a very good capture program and it has a Encoder with it also that isn"t that bad..My Capture device (win TV USB) is very hard to find programs that will capture good Quality with it unless I capture uncompressed AVi files with it, but I get allmost as good mpeg2 with Win DVR as I get with Uncompressed avi files and I don"t drop any frames that I drop with allmost any other capture program.....

The small amount of capturing I did a while back was all done with VirtualDUB to AVI then AVI to VCD with TMPGenc. Worked well and got good results. Output quality depends naturally on the quality of the input.

As dragonz suggested AVI_IO is also very good.

Anyone has tried capture SVCD with Ulead DVD Worshop 1.2 ,looks better than windvr since supports VBR capture. (put 15 in quality settings).
