:p :p I don't know much or any of all programs in you list, but I guess it must be the OTHER because you can't ven find the best one out of them ;)

a)
Absolutely best quality gives ProCoder with "Mastering Quality".
Another blast off is "field structure" setting for interlaced material but most standalones need "frame structure" (don't mess that up with interlace settings).
But all at the cost of speed (only about 2 fps on Athlon XP 1800+ )

b)
Cinema Craft SP (CCE SP)

c)
Cinema Craft SP (CCE SP)

My personal opinion : whatever quality you’ll put in same quality you’ll get out and no ProCode or CCE will help you. In terms of speed nothing can beat CCE and speed is very important

Procoder VS CCE 2.64

I my Extensive test with CCE SP 2.64 and Procoder 1.01, with plain avi to mpeg2 encodeing at very low bitrates CCE SP wins Hands down with Mid to High bitrates the Quality gets a lot closer, at Mastering Quality in Procoder you get Pristene Mpeg2 files But the quality of CCE at the same bitrate isn"t discernable between the two, and Procoder has a funny Habit of Dropping frames to keep sync with the audio, not with All files but some, were there shouldn"t be any droping of frames because the time code hasn"t changed..and encodeing with Master quality with procoder I only get about 9 frames per second compared to about 60-100 frames per second on my 1.7GHZ with CCE 2.64,So I still lean toward CCE SP 2.64 in the Quality and speed as a package..But with CCE version 2.50 Procoder clearly beats it were Quality is concerned..Poeple say that there is no Quality difference between CCE 2.50 and the 2.62 and 2.64 versions but I beg to differ, I get clearly superior Quality with the 2.64 compared to 2.50 version, and the 2.64 versoin Now supports AVS and VDR files, which was a reason why Most poeple used the 2.50 version...so I give CCE SP 2.64 a Lead over Procoder as a full mpeg2 encodeing package, but as we all know Procoder is a Lot more than a Mpeg2 encoder which put"s it in a Class by it self..

Procoder´s performance converting to (S)VCD is according with the type of Video use as input (Avi uncompressed, Huffyuv, Pic ,DV Mainconcept or Canopus propietary, Mpeg2 or 1).

Notes about speed converting to SVCD ,2 VBR pass ,DC=10 and Mastering Quality with different inputs: (system used: Athlon XP 2100+, 1 ghz Ram DDR)

1) Huffyuv ,pic and uncompressed ---- 6 fps: speed increases if the input signal is 480x480 ,but i have serious trouble with scanlines artifacts (Field base) then apply Adaptative de-interlace filter with frame base to the Output signal and Non interlaced to Input Signal. Of course Speed decreases a lot. CCE 2.66 fails cruely, Huffyuv´s Author talk about high sensibility of CCE to the native noise of lossless codecs.

2) Mpeg2 (bitrate 4000 - 10000)or 1 ----- 12.3 fps : Procoder can handle Mpeg2 from any source (including problematic Creative´s video blaster Mpeg2) ,no deinterlaced problem ,Resize seem decreases speed (like avi input). CCE 2.66 gives better results (preservs the same quality from original "high bitrate" mpeg2). No doubt, is the best encoder recompress mpeg 2 (speed 1.87 )

3) DV mainconcept or Canopus ------ 19.2 fps : DV Canopus video present more scanlines than DV Mainconcept format, but play fine in standalone players. CCE 2.66 quality (even with 4 passes) is minor with DV input
