What Printer do you use?

I was just wondering if there are any people out there that print dvd covers and disc labels for the movies they backup?

If you do what printer do you use and can you tell me what the quality is like on the final product. Do you use any special paper for the jackets.

What program do you use for cd labels and what are the limitations of the software/any good things about the program as well.

I am thinking about upgrading my printer and I want to make cd labels and covers of good quality.

Thanks for your time,

Printing

Printer >> Epson Stylus C70 Plus

For >> Seperate Colour Cartridges/Uses compatable chipped replacement cartrdges/USB & LPT1 port/For the price it prints very good Quality.

Against >> Its a printer - they all seem to be unreliable at times

I print on Glossy Labels (use ICD Boma which I dont recommend But set up right it does a good job)
For jewel/DVD case I print on Bright white Inkjet paper & the results are very good (depending on the quality of the cover U start with) >> I Use EZCD Creator 3.1 for jewel & Nero cover maker for DVD.Both do the job very well.
I use a combination of Paint shop pro & Microsux Photodraw to Sharpen/clean up/edit scanned or downloaded covers.

Well when I used to do divx movie's and my audio cd's I'd used Glossy labels on my epson stylus color 670. And the end product was very good quality for a 2 tank printer (1 for black & 1 for color which is red.yellow.blue).
And the cartridges I use are print-rite www.print-rite.com mainly:)

Ive been thinking about getting a cannon s520 a mate of mine had one for a week untill the computer store got him the s820 he ordered and I think the final image on the s520 looks a hell of a lot better than the s820 which is almost double the price.

We did a test on Goldmember discs and jackets and the finer detail looked better than the s820 but was very minimal where as the s520 had brighter and sharper colours and definition.

Any thoughts on the matter?

I design a lot of CD covers in Adobe Photoshop and output onto an Epson 890 (6 ink). The covers are very professional looking on heavyweight gloss inkjet paper.

The paper you use will have just as much of an influence on quality as your choice of printer. When buying a printer, look to see how much the replacement cartridges will cost! I went for a slightly older printer as the cartridges are only GBP 5.00

If you are working from scans, sharpen the image and drop the brightness slightly in an image editor. Dropping the brightness will return the blacks to the image and will look great.
