what is the best packet writing software

FileCD is a good solution but it has one problem I can´t understand the reson for. With all other PW soft free space will increase when you delete files on CDRW media...with FileCD not. I have checked this with all versions of FileCD and still no change.

Thanks to all for your comments. I will check out the ones suggested. As far as the in compatability I am having with dla. Is when I have my cd,cdr and 2 harddrives on my onboard ide and one drice on my ata100 adapter the last drive has the error that it can't install the drivers because of an incompatable filter driver. If I ininstall dla the problem goes away. I have had this problem on two different machines. I really do't know if it is the amount of devices or the compatability issue with nero.

Thanks again

Well
I hate to say this. I removed DLA. Reinstalled all of my drives. And everything is working fine. no errors. I guess on my system it was DLA.
I still might turn off the indexing for the promise drives

Tks

You can do whatever you want but dont install packetwriter, they are all garbage,no matter which one,its a vaste of money,time,nerves................................................................etc etc etc..................

Not a fan of packet writting myself, but my dad wants to work with it for some reason. I found the new release of InCd and tried that under XP and was quite impressed with it so far. Seems to work well with no problems yet. We will have to wait and see.

Best packet writing software

I've always used In CD and other than v2.x not wanting to install into XP, I've never had a conflict and now that I'm using version 3.21 I don't have to use the app fixer to install it anymore. I think its great.

Is trye all of this!!???Tryed them all except incd>>people complained a lot so i avoided sofar.SOMEBODY ELSE,had it good,or bad,with incd????

Here you go<my last chance to use pocketwriter.and Poko Kicked my tooths all the way.Guess i have to stick with some good regular cd soft as usually:rolleyes:

Packet writting software

I've tried Direct cd5 and its not bad, but I've always used INcd. Currently I have v3.23 installed and it works great in XP. I have Easy CD creator installed and the latest version of nero as well as clone cd, fantom cd, plus a few different VCD making programs.

None of these progs have ever conflicted with each other. The only time I get an error is if I run nero when I have a RW disc in the burner. It says to eject it with INcd. I do this and then it runs fine.

I only use Incd to keep a couple of discs of software I use all the time up to date, otherwise I just burn data cd's.

I think the question of which is best comes down to what you want from it and if the prog does it. Therefore 10 people may say that 10 different packet software progs are the best.

Cheers all,
Hayzee

i had nero burning rom, recordnow max, blindwrite, and incd all working properly without any problems. i think most people who install programs mess up there computers and complain that programs won't work. Well people take care of your computer and most software will work fine.

Using packet writing software is risky at best.

I've lost many cds to directcd already. Getting information out from a cd that will no longer be written by directcd is sometimes impossible - directcd is for those who want to store information that is convenient but not mission critical.

direct cd

just ditched direct cd and all traces of roxio
got tired of having to "recover" disks
starts writing then stalls and locks up even with the latest version installed
went with veritas (hp) dla-it seems hp was having so many complaints about this horribly operating packet writing system that they dumped them
seems to be ok so far very lite on the resources and no crashes yet

My 2 bits: I am using DLA, and Pokopiko recommended this as packet writing on a post of mine a while back.. I also have Clone CD, WinOnCD PE 3.8, CDRWin, ISO Buster, & EAC. No Problems.I only use it for backing up my Quicken files.
I actually like the proggie.
Confusius say:" Panties not best thing, but next to best thing."

Exactly why is DirectCD not any good?

i'm interested to know why DirectCD (and all packet-writing programs) are getting such negative comments? I like using DirectCD for my jpeg files and most other data because i can use the cdr just like a harddrive and drag and drop files and not have to close the cdr until i've got it all filled up. I've not had any problems using it and wonder why everyone is saying it's bad? I did find out that all the mp3 files i put on cdr using DirectCd was a big mistake because when you try to play the cdr back on a home component it puts many minute pauses in EACH track. So i've got alot of cdrs that i have to redo. But other than mp3 files, i like using it because it's easy and i've had no problems so would like some input why it gets negative comments here. I never see "why" it's no good....just that everyone says it's no good and not to use it. So can someone enlighten me? thanks

Just try and use it for a year or two and then you put your Packet CDRW in the drive and it fails. Bye, bye data!

I (like you) did not believe it either. But after 20-25 of inserting new data, my old Packet CDRW's started messing up (errors, unreadable). Its due to the TOC being written over and over again...sooner or later its messed up and "bam" a nice coaster.

Had to use CDR Inspector to recover the data. I was able to get most of it back, but I lost several important files. Never again!

Trust me and others here, it will happen to you in time.

cdrw vs cdr

ok...i understand what you are saying. There seems to be a problem with packet writing when you use a cdrw, but i mainly use cdr....not cdrw. Does this make a difference? If i stick to using cdr with DirectCd do you think i will have a problem? I will avoid using cdrw though! thanks!

Oh....and what is DLA that is mentioned above as a packet writing program? Would it be considered better to use than DirectCD if someone wanted to use a packe writing program?

DLA

i did a search and found out that DLA is Direct Letter Access. I guess i should have searched myself before i asked what it was! I downloaded it and will try it out to see what i think. I'm still curious if using cdr (not cdrw) discs should be ok with packet writing software tho.
