What is the best allaround software?

Ive been using clone cd for awhile, along with cdrwin, and ppf omatic to apply patches, with all my psx games. Is there a better software that might even copy the entire psx disk without the need for a mod chip? (not concerning ps2 games.)

still waiting for my magic 3.1 to get here.

No matter what software you use you still need a mod chip or some other boot device.

I would say that Alcohol 120% is the best all around program.

For a start you could if you wanted get rid of both CloneCD and CDRWin as Alcohol supports both BIN/CUE and CCD formats.

The druid beat me to it.... but yes Alcohol 120% is really considered to be the best 1:1 copy proggy currently. Easy to use as well.

For regular burning though, Burnatonce cannot be beat. If you want to burn backups, data and/or mp3 CD's.... it's hard to beat. Freeware too! Do a Forum search and you will see how we all love it around here. ;)

Agree with both celtic_druid and dxkim.

Currently, alcohol is the best all round proggie for copy protected cds whilst burnatonce is the best for regular burning (and you can't beat its price :) ).

from experience the simple answer is its IMPOSSIBLE to make a psx copy work without the (mod chip / factory made boot disk or cheat cartridge combo) in place as no current cd burner available to the public market can physically burn TRACK 1 of the psx disk ....this is what the chip/disk/cartridge replaces but for modded psx's any burner that can read sub channel data is capable or 99% of psx duplication using software that is also capable of reading both sub channels and burning with DO NOT REPAIR sub channel data :)

these include ALCOHOL 120%
CD MATE
CLONE CD
DISKJUGGLER

personal choice is clone cd as ive used it the longest :)
followed by alcohol followed by cd mate :)

Ok , what about boot disk?

Ive seen boot disk at the most 1mb of data is on the disk and it works fine, Why cant this info data be written to a copy in place of the original sub data?

Ok Ive downloaded alcohol 120 gona give it a try.

Thanks, also cancelled my hp layaway, my sony should be here
sometime this week,

Which Sony bud?! Some Sony CDR drives can do copy protection well, while others can't. LiteOn is generally considered the best copy-protection burner around. They are usually more inexpensive as well. ;)

The boot disks in question have the "track one" pressed into the disk at the factory ! and no one has discovered a way of duplicating this at home due the the limitations of public hardware available

read this link <a href="http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?threadid=48477">Here</a> at cd freaks its quite long 25 pages and they still have not got any further :(

Sony DRU-500a handles copyprotections very well, but you may forget about backing up boot disks- it simply can't be done.

What cant use a hammer and chisel

Oh well, Trying out alcohol as I type, Hope I did this right

installed alcohol, burning now.

One thing though, the slowest it writes is at 4x bomber,
never seen really good copies at this speed. fastest write ive seen that works is at 2.5x

Edited reference to warez!!! Please read the rulez

Playstation 2 With DVD Decrypter....

:D

Hi to all..

Ok guys id like to know if your playstation 2 game is protected, how would you bypass it..

I do know that you have to remove DeCSS with DVD Decrypter..

What I want to know is how do you use DVD Decrypter to remove it and then use alcohol to burn it on a dvd disc....

<b>Regards Mojo</b>
:D

PS2 isn't really my area but CSS is only found on movies. DeCSS is the name of a program/code used for removing CSS.

For a PS2 DVD game as far as I know you should just be able to read and write with Alcohol, that is unless it is on a DVD9, which I think only like 2 games are?

Playstation 2 and DVD Decrypter

Yes I know that so why do people mentioned DVD Decrypter to remove DeCSS

If it is used can some one tell me in detail on how DVD Decrypter removes it and then what would be the prcedures to put on a dvd disc...

Please do not give me a link....!

Remember it is CSS and not DeCSS. DeCSS was the first code/program used for bypassing CSS.

That is because people use DVD Decrypter to decrypt DVD movies.

To add CSS you need to have an authoring drive.

Also as I said CSS is used on movies not PS2 games.

:D HI

First Id Like to say thanks for the reply...

So then how is it done

1. what software is required. and what need to be taken?

2. what you mean by authoring drive?

Regards

1. If you mean to add CSS, then I guess the drive would come with the required software.
2. Most people's DVD burners are what is known as general use. These use general use media, which do not have the area where the encryption key is stored.

Authoring drives however use authoring media, which does not have this limitation. You can therefor write CSS protected discs with such a drive.

What's with all the interest though? Your original question was about PS2 games and as I said this has nothing to do with that.

Should also point out that authoring drives are much slower and more expensive than the current crop of general use drives and I don't see this changing any time soon.
