What is really tested in a simulation?

For instance, in case the simulation differs amongst burning programs, what is really tested in Nero when one does a simulation since I heard it does not burn anything? Only the transfer capability and I can still get a coaster because of medium error?

Your absolutely right. The Simulation mode only tests the transfer of the data to the burner. It does also check the tracking of the CDR but as no actual burning takes place, it cannot check the cdr media for any errors it may contain.

Simulation mode basically tests your Hardware is working fine (or not!), not the actual CDR.
