what is *.dmg

im trying to find out what kind of format a file is that ends in .dmg and what i use to burn it... thanx in advance

DMG = Macintosh OS X Disk Image File (Treated like a real disk)
perhaps you can rename the file to .img and then open it with some image tool to convert the image to a common format.
or you downloaded a mac version of a program ...
in mac os x just double-clicking the file should work
