what is a "3COm PCMCIA XJack NIC"

i've been looking around for a refurbished notebook, and decided to focus on the Toshiba Tecra 8000 series (thanks for all the help i recieved).

anyway, while running across some sites, i came across one that offered one of these things for free (3COm PCMCIA XJack NIC) with the purchase of a notebook. i have no idea what these words mean. any help??

[crossing my fingers and hoping that it has something to do with a network card]

Its a 3Com PCMCIA network card with a XJack connector

xjack is just a new connector they use to connect the ethernet cable directly to the PCMCIA card (saves having to carry the old cable that connected between the PCMCIA card and ethernet cable)

They are worth about 130-150 US Dollars, i think
