What does this error mean in VirtualDub MPEG?...

Now that you guys got me using VirtualDub MPEG, I can't shut up with the questions... (Thanks for humoring me!)

Every time I do a MPEG to Divx transcode (using Fast Compress for the video, Full Processing for the audio--as described in the great tutorial), I receive a single error message at the end of each transcode. It reads:

"[!] Dub: I/O thread has not cycled for ten seconds -- possible livelock.
(Thread location: 004A8395)"

What does this error mean?... Should I be concerned with it? (I seem to get great Divx video after transcoding, but I thought I should ask The Knowledgeable for any advice.)

Thanks again for your input!...

As I understand it, it simply means that the codec did not encode a single frame for 10+secs. It is nothing really to be concerned about as it should have no effect whatsoever on the final output. You could try increasing VDub's priority or stop other tasks from running whilst you are encoding.

I'm curious: perhaps this warning is a minor bug in VirtualDub (MPEG)?... Perhaps this error signifies that it could not encode a frame within ten seconds of the last because it has encoded the last frame of the file? In short, there were no other frames to encode and did not encode another one within ten seconds?...

I suggest this only because when I initially tried VirtualDub MPEG, I had used Full Process mode, and had received this warning a number of times... (It makes sense, since I'm encoding on a dinosaur of a computer.) But when I encode using Fast Compress mode, I only get the warning once. Perhaps the warning is produced literally at the end of the encoding, since I don't get it but once?...

Just a thought...
