What does dvdstripper offer that I can't do otherwise?

hey. was checking out dvdstripper and it sounds cool and all, but assuming I already have dvddecrypter and am comfortable using it and I have instantcopy (and instantcopy hidden settings editor), is there anything that this program offers in addition that would make it a worthy buy?

thanks

You need a LOT of reading to do on reviews, the DVDstripper site etc.

Just the other day I bought the Hulk, special edition, and I saw freaking commercials!!!! How do you get rid of that with DVDDecrypter and Instant Copy secret settings editor ALONE, and STILL have a playable DVD+-R?
Or FOX's stupid habit of putting about 5 minutes of warning screens before the movie?
Or Universal's (or is it Columbia?) proprietary trailers when you hit play?

Etc Etc.... Do a Google on DVDStripper to find more unbiased :) reviews about the tool.

And also...

There is no nicer splash screen out there on a program today! :D
what about the progress bar?, have you seen anything better than that in the adult version of DVDStripper? ;)

@toenailsmasher, are you aware of how IC actually removes stuff as I've written numerous times that it creates DVD's that will have issues on more fussy players like Sony's etc, so it's all down to your player if you use such a program like IC to remove titles

Issue 1 and Issue 2

I think they fixed it partially after I sent Pinnacle some sample of my Mini DVD's with the issues recreated. Sadly though it still does affect some DVD's and no fix has yet been released

IC cannot remove stuff in the menu's so if the crap you don't want is in the menu you have to use other methods to get rid of them I suppose :(

It's all down to personal preferences I suppose

did anyone mention that DVDStripper can split DVD's?

the main issues for people are having issues either with the IFO update process not running properly on their system and/or they are finding it hard to come to terms of the items listing. Both are top of the list to resolve but it does seem that some have taken to it like a fish to water

... that means dvdstripper doesn't work at all. just to make clear what issue means in this case.

p.s. unfortunately ifoedit works perfect here (as standalone app.)

maybe Ifoedit will work manually and my wording is rather bad (edited now), but DVDStripper runs Ifoedit over and over again and therefore will put a strain on system resources and somewhere along the line it's upsetting DVDStripper's commands to Ifoedit

but why does it work on lower spec systems yet not on more powerful systems? There is obviously something somewhere causing the issue and soon it will be found

I guess it's to be expected people have issues with a first release or even after a first update as it's always the same with most cases of software due to the infinite amount of OS setups

the question is can the user figure it out themselves? When IC7 came out I ripped IC7 to pieces and would like to think I helped Pinnacle fix a few of their bugs and also helped users with my guides. People would have thought I was a support agent for Pinnacle the amount of testing I put into that program. I guess I like troubleshooting and like coming up with solutions to problems and not just software. I'm forever fixing friend's and relatives PC's when their software doesn't work even though it should or their PC is out of action for one reason or another and maybe I should start charging them as I'd be rich :D

If only I could get my hands on a problem system I'm pretty sure I would at least find out what is causing the issues and then we could work out how to overcome it

I'm still looking for such a system and hopefully I'll find one soon but at least we are trying unlike some software companies I know :)

I'm thinking of giving you remote access to my machine ...

Just to set the record straight, DS does work. It's not perfect and is not as solid as it needs to be.

I've processed (and subsequently burnt) about 40 DVD's with it since the release of 0.1.1 and feel much better about it than I did with the initial release. I've had issues with two of the discs I've done and figured out how to correct those to my satisfaction.

Twice I've experienced the 'do you really want to quit without saving' error and once I've experienced a situation where a complete disc file set would not allow DS to have the media player play the files in the autoplay mode.

I'm running a 2GHZ AMD Athlon XP Pro system with 512 M ram and I'm comfortable enough with the app now that I wouldn't want to give it up.

Good Luck!

I would love that as I'd soon kick DVDStripper ass into shape :), but I wouldn't know the first thing baout remote access and wouldn't even want to try it anyway as I'd rather be sat at the PC than doing it over long distance

I'm sure I'll soon sort out a fix for you anyway as I got that prehistoric PC in the other thread to work and if that can work then there really isn't any reason why most other PC's shouldn't :)
