Well, I thought, what could be COMBO about a hard disk?


External, USB2 / Firewire, with some seriously cool illumination.

USB2 trailed WAY behind Firewire in any thruoughput based test, but the gap narrowed in I/O rate intesive tests.

Also some way down on a similar drive direct to an ATA100 controller



I thought USB2 was supposed to be the next great thing, but for this it looks like Firewire all the way!

Your right. On paper usb 2.0 is the same speed or exceeds firewire. But in all the real world tests firewire blows usb 2.0 out the water.
