weird 8 speed burning using Liteon 811s

Hi people

I have recently bought the Liteon 811s and updated the firmware to DR8HS0E, which is the newest on the Litey site ( this i was told would allow me to burn at 8 speed)
When i start burning at 8 speed ( In Nero 6 Ultra ) the Percentage counter after about 8 minutes reaches 100%, but the green progress bar is only half way through the process, and this takes another 7 or 8 minutes to finish burning the disc.
So in reality it is only burning at 4 speed.
In Device manager>IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers, it is showning that the drive is set to DMA if available > Ultra DMA Mode 2

I am using DATASAFE x4 ( Ritek Dye )

I presume U are using 8x DVDR+ media AFAIK wont burn to DVDR- @ 8x

Make sure you have the proper 4X dvd+r to burn at 8X.Only certain brands will get you an 8X burn.Also your transfer from the Hd must be fast enough or your buffers will start to empty increasing the burn times.

8x on the Plextor 708A will take roughly 8 minutes to dvd+r.(just as a reference point).

I am using 4X datasafe ( Ritek Dye) which i wa told was the right disc to do the job??????

Here is a thread dealing with 8x burning to 4X media,and drive comments.

The Plex 708A is getting better at 8X burning to 4X media.It has taken a couple of firmware upgrades to get better.Maybe the same for the Liteon?Try to find Liteon recommended media for 8X burns.Looks like a new firmware mentioned in the supplied link.

Here is a long thread regarding the drive.Lots of mention of media,and results.They're working on a hacked firmware,but I would caution to wait.
