wat burner now 2 choose

hi folks
as u all know,my dvdrom is now buried after a somewat tragic death :D
now concerning the replacement,i was planning 2 buy an asus dvd drw0402 p/d,which is an oem pioneer 106...unfortunately/fortunately,my supplier no longer has any,but proposed me the following:
1)pioneer 107( 8x burning dvd+-r) cost MUR 6200
2)msi dr8-A (8x dvd+r,4x dvdr) cost MUR 5800
3)gigabyte go-w0404A (4x dvd+/-r) cost MUR 4200

so ,any one can give me his/her opinion,coz i need then 2 ask the necessary cash from my pops

Well using a Pio 107 and I can say what a lovely job it does at backing up.
By all acounts it writes to most media even dead cheap crap but I tend to use ProdiscS03 or Ritek GO4 Typee disc (DVD-R)..
As for the MSI it to does a fine job to it all up to you bro 1st place 107 the then MSI . :)
Just a added note: Firmware I've found that work fine with the Pioneer so far are 1.05 & 1.10.

err no plextor found here yet...could have lg or benq @ worst,which i personally hate,dunno y though :D
now need 2 consider cost though,pops find them 2 expensive :(
btw rastabt ,does pio 107 reads better than 106?found on tomshardware that 106 had some probs reading somewat damaged disc

Hi bro cant say for sure as I've only used a Pio 106 twice in my life and it read fine yes the disc was a bit damaged.
Now the Pio 107 so far has yet to let mi down my Liteon DVD Rom 166 had problems reading 2 disc but the 107 saw no problems with them.. But then again I'm not a heavy burner best of times..

Anyway..I dont know why people hate lg??They got good drives,very liable,cheap..for example their 8x dvd writer(4081)is 145 cad dollars..
Also if you use eac,their drives got excelent c2 error correction(from my experience) :)
They are a good buy..just like liteons and thats means opposite to plextors :p

Hi... I bought the msi dr8-A (8x dvd+r,4x dvdr) .

So far so good. I am delighted with this little beauty. Takes approx 12 mins to burn 4.37 Gb movie to DVD +R.

Not only does my PS2 but my tv/DVD player plays it back perfectly.

It also is great for CD-R's and you can get 1.4 Gb onto a single 700mb CD-R.

Not being an expert in this area ....but for me this is the one to buy.

I'm a very happy customer with this burner.

serjer & seb I'm looking at getting my brother-inlaw into the inport and export of blank media (CD/DVD).
He does a lot of business in Japan and China as it now, but talks of blank media is still in the pipe line.
And if he goes had your only next door Mauritius..;) He be based in Saint Denis La Reunion but just have to see when he gets back
as I'll be need some too..

PS: I know it's not helping you right now but maybe for the futrue.

dvdr+/-rw forgot 2 ask,think it should be in the dvd-r & dvd+r price range(cot fen paret -/+ same price),will confirm later
there's also 8cm dvd(-)r ,of about 1.5gb i think,price don't remember....as 4 media quality,he reported no probs with the dvds while burning on a pioneer106
