NOTICE OF UNAUTHORIZED SOFTWARE

An unauthorized copy of Nullsoft's copyrighted software was briefly posted on this website on or about Wednesday May 28, 2003. The software was identified as "WASTE" (the "Software") and includes the files "waste-setup.exe", "waste-source.zip", "waste-source.tar.gz" and any additional files contained in these files.

Nullsoft is the exclusive owner of all right, title and interest in the Software. The posting of the Software on this website was not authorized by Nullsoft.

If you downloaded or otherwise obtained a copy of the Software, you acquired no lawful rights to the Software and must destroy any and all copies of the Software, including by deleting it from your computer. Any license that you may believe you acquired with the Software is void, revoked and terminated.

Any reproduction, distribution, display or other use of the Software by you is unauthorized and an infringement of Nullsoft's copyright in the Software as well as a potential violation of other laws.

Yeah i read about it & also the main man at Nullsoft(Justin Frankel) has left 4 good

Post Edited, Links removed....NOW NOW scarecrow ....you know that we have to abide by forum rules here and any links to ILLEGAL/copywrited software no matter how great it looks is not permitted here ! thanks!.... please try respect that NULLSOFT still have the rights to this software and AOL have ownership of NULLSOFT ... we here at CDRBASE do not have the funding to take on the MIGHT of A.O.L's LAW company :( It's obvious this was a disgruntled employee that leaked this onto NULLSOFTS website without consent!!! :( >>>>>VIPER_1069<<<<<

It was released as an open source with legit license--so its done..and you can find it everywhere now--on all kinds of legit sites except......""""fill the gap yourself"""":rolleyes:

The program has been issued under GNU GPL , the licence CANNOT BE RETRACTED, so it doesn't really matter if you think that it's illegal... in fact it's absolutely legal and AOL's claims are ridiculous. Forcing their Nullsoft employees to remove it from their site does not change anything. The next time please try to think before removing 101%LEGAL links. Thank you.

@scarecrow IF you clearly stated that it is now available as OPEN SOURCE re-written source code instead of just a couple of links of which some do point to mirrors of the original NULLSOFT release !, then maby i would not of edited them we are not all mind readers here! :(

Nullsoft has issued software under GNU, as opensource, as freeware... just pay a visit to their site and you will see. And unless they can prove in a court that some Nullsoft employee STOLE the code and issued it undel GNU himself and NOT the company, then the case is crystal clear. Since the program+code was at Nullsoft site for MORE THAN ONE WEEK without anyone objecting, it's more than obvious that this thing does not apply, and AOL may suck its finger!

hmm, yes that is correct ..
GNU GPL = GNU GPL
You cannot just revoke that license, once you released a program under that license you have to keep it that way.
Even if the code of that program would be used in another, the new program has to use the GPL license as well ...

The genie is out of the bottle..... if AOHell think they can cork this one up just because it doesn't suit their corporate vision, they are sorely mistaken.

This is going to be another "Force ASPI" - no matter how much they try to get it "removed from the net", they will not succeed.

Perhaps the next thing we'll see, is they try to discredit it as a usable file sharing method.

An FTP server is easily detectable (and forbidden on contract by many ISP's in US of A), no matter if it uses OpenSSL or not, but this fecking thing is NOT!
Come on... The major thing about this thing is that by using encryption the ISP cannot really know the content of the data traffic- and THAT is what it hurts more about Waste, and not the existence of "another lame P2P protocol/application".
I for one thing will go on managing my data needs by FTP, up to the day that the global rules for "freedom" will be unficated... :D

I cannot stand that AOL did ban this application !
and I am really happy that Justin Frankel quit at Nullsoft.
What is software without freedom ? You should be able to create the program you like to .. not the one that AOL likes.
So ... I like Waste, and we use it in our company already.
Sending passwords over mail or ICQ is always a problem ...
So waste is handy for many things IMHO :)
