Beware when buying ex display goods.
A friend of mine e-mailed mi asking if this web cam (it was made by Trust) was any good. I said yes they make good product at a good price too..
Anyway he went to this department store and said he wanted to buy this web cam
which as I understand was on display at a clear out section of the store?
It came with-out any drivers just a beat down box which stated Win 98 ME 2000
Anyway he went and paid for it something like $5 or $10.was marked up $58
Got back to his office and tried installing it on his notebook which had Win XP
OS.. Notebook would not see device so he went to homepage for the web cam
Downloaded the drivers for both ME and XP (home PC is ME OS).
This thing could not be seen by XP even after installing XP drivers.. Anyway he went
Home after work, got home greeted the family a few hours later he went to his PC (ME) and loaded his drivers for the web cam…after fight for some hours still unable to get this thing working. He later rang mi, over the phone we did the routine checks
Still would not fire up… The next day he went back to the department store to complain about his problem with the web cam. After 45 mins in store alone with the store manager and more downloads form the web for drivers (store manager said it was a driver issue) My friend got pi**ed off and asked for his money back but he did not read the small print by the display when he was looking at the web cam and other stuff there….Bought as seen The manager would not give back his few bucks
So he chucked the web cam to the ground and low and behold it turned out to be a DUMMY web cam for display purpose only. The main body of the web cam had a weight inside to keep it stable while standing….After seeing this the store manager give him back his money and a web cam of his choice for free….
I wet myself when he told mi the outcome….so be ware of ex-demo or display goods
