vidomi too slow

when convert vob's to divx (5.02) using vidomi (0.469), the max speed of fps i can get is 15-16 fps, wich i think is too slow for my machine:

Pentium 4 1.7
256Mb ram ddr
Seagate 40Gb 7200 rpm HD
Geforce2 MX 400 tv out
ECS P4VXASD2 motherboard

what do you think? thks

what is the bitrate you are using when encoding? and how much HDD space do you have left over on the drive you are making the DivX to?

Also what OS are you using?

ok good to know but you left out the bitrate you are using? 750? 1000? 2000?

It will be located in the settings/configure section for DivX Networks (two pass) (the button under it).
There you can see what bitrate is being used.
Depending on the bitrate, your machine should be doing roughly about 24fps or so (sorry I don't have a machine at that speed *either higher or much lower).

sorry i forgot :)
the bitrate is 780kbps (it's the default as so as the other options)

so what do you think? should i be doing faster enconding?

Are you using DivX Network 2 pass encoding or using Vidomi DivX 2pass?
btw I think that for P4@1700 is just fine 17fps

the AMD XP processors encode faster? because i'm thinking seriosly os getting one...

Well, that's the reason why I bought Atlon XP (1800, 256mb DDR 333).
At this configuration I get 22-25fps. It's almoust realtime... Only one think you have to worry 'bout - it's temperature, but if you buy a good cooler...
btw Marty from Vidomi said that he optimized Vidomi for AMD procesors...

For a P4 at 1.7, thats just about as fast as you will get.

As said above, go for an AMD id you want faster encoding, they generally leave the P4 standing still.
