video sizing

does the video pixel sizing have to be the same as the template in tmpeg or can you maintain the original video pixel sizing to give u a higher resolution when making a vcd.Am i locked into these parameters or can i increase the resolution as when i load the template it wont let me change the settings.

is there a benifit to this or can it be done as i have some home footage off a video camera stored as avi and i want to convert to vcd with minimum loss of resolution.

also im looking for some decent filters that i can use for when i convert to vcd to try and remove the blue colour from them .

Unfortunately the VCD specification demands 352x288 for PAL and 352x240 for NTSC & FILM. Anything outside that is not a VCD and may or may not play on your or other family DVD Players.

If you want to play them on PC only, then use any dimmension (keeping aspect ratio correct) you like (but always divideable by 16). Just load in the Unlock template and change the dimensions.

Or convert to SVCD, which is 480x576. Suggest you capture at 720x576 as an AVI and then use TMPGEnc to convert to SVCD.

In TMPGEnc, go to Settings / Advanced / Custom Color Correction. In there you can lower the Blue or increase Red to "fix" the colour up. Works quite good, just needs a bit of fiddling until its right.
