i just connected my computer to the stereo and tv, and that computer has a video card with tv out; i assume that's not the same as the video capturing card right? if so,what r some good brands to get?fatboy said:I have seen machine that can take on input such as TV, tape etc and record it in a real-time mode onto a CD-R or CD-RW.
You can also pause the machine, if u want to skip over undesireable footages/TV advs.
Very handy machine. I think the price is around US$400
One of the brands is Serial and the other (i cannot remember clearly) starts with an 'M'.
Or alternatively get yrself a capture card with TV turner. Plug yr VCR into the TV input of the card and start captuing
A card that is capable of real-time mpeg I capturing costs about $100 and a card which is capable of real-time SVCD capturing is around $200. For that u need a burner and corresponding s/w.
Enjoy.
You need a Capture Card or a Video Card with Video In. A cheap TV Capture card is all some people want or a GForce Vid Card with VIVO or a standalone Cap. Card made by Canopus or Pinnacle are preffered by those that are going to do a lot of capturing.Craig said:can someone tell me how to turn my vhs video tapes to vcd so i can burn them on a cdr or cdr/w to play in a dvd player?

thank u chickenman! i def. will look into that option then; the card is not too expensive as I vaguely recall.ChickenMan said:A GForce card is about twice the price of a cheap video cap card and will capture to full screen 720x576/480 no problems. I have one of these myself now and only started looking at capturing only last night. The sotware that comes with the card is a good start. VirtualDUB is also very good.
