vhs /dvd recorder combo problem

a friend of mine copied some home movies from vhs to dvd with his vhs to dvd recorder combo and used dvd-r disk.the problem is i can't access the disk when i put them in my computer and make backups.i think there must be some copy protection on the disk because anydvd doesn't like them.any suggestions.

If its an RW it needs finalising on the original recorder if its just R your play MAY not play em.

If it dosent the DVD-R needs re burning as a VIDEO DVD (with AUDIO_TS & VIDEO_T folders) from the recorded one.

I really don't think it added copy protection on the fly. Not impossible I suppose, but it was a home movie to DVD and it is not normal to do that.

I'm thinking along the lines of Poacher... its either a media incompatibility with your burner, the burn was not done well, or it was not finalized. Can this disk be played in any other player standalone or DVD-drive?? Can your DVD-drive see the files at all or does it just sit there trying to read it?

Try to "recover" the disc with isobuster pro by extracting the files to your harddisk in UDF mode......I assume that your disc is in dvd-vr format,so you will need to reauthor them....
