Very Excellent Program

Well, I finally got around the issues I had with DVDStripper and got some results.

I have to say very nice results. I'm an American who likes my Pie completely featured. So I took this disc as one of the first. This is the first disc I have used DVDStripper and MenuEdit on.

Integrating the 2 tools to work together was very straightforward and well done. The Force Exit option was very helpful in preventing Multiple copies of MenuEdit from flooding the system.

Comment on the Force Exit option. Perhaps this could be added as a setting on a per configured basis (like set it on the options screen {add a checkbox to the 2 path lines})?

I was able to easily edit out the menu button functionality for the French audio and the Spanish subtitles that I would remove later in DVDShrink.

DVDStripper made it quite easy to remove all the preview crap that plays prior to going to the main menu when this disc is inserted. It also made it easy to remove the company logo bit prior to the start of the movie itself.

Further changes DVDStripper made easy were changes to the Soundtrack advertisement. The initial advert portion and the song video were removed. Since I do like to try and keep the original material the last part of that was left which played one of the songs while scrolling the list of songs on the soundtrack.

Previews for other movies were all removed and resultant menu items disabled.

Overall, once various issues with SMP were resolved things got better (it took forcing both programs to a single processor). Although I still had crashes with IfoEdit the disc did indeed turn out good.

The results were very good and I am most impressed with the way the program rapidly does what would normally take hours or even longer doing such things manually.

nice to hear that as that's exactly what it was created for, to save you time and effort. I guess after 2 or 3 jobs the time saved alone should be worth the price it currently is

it seems so strange that one guy has went to the trouble of posting at DVDRHelp Tools section HERE about it yet couldn't post in the official forum where he would get a response. I get emails every so often praising DVDStripper and it's a shame I don't see more posts or comments like yours Zarish and this comment at DVDRHelp I feel is unfair

I can't understan how this guy has also complained to Paypal but is yet to post here or reply to my 2 emails. I would like to think the procedure is clear enough in the email/forum on what to do if anyone has a problem

the idea of this forum being set up in the first place was so that every member could see peoples success/failures with DS but also get decent support if problems arise

so if you are reading this, please get in touch as I have sent you 2 emails to which you still haven't replied so we can resolve this matter. I suppose I can't do anything more than that if I'm not getting any response. I don't see how you can justify your comments at DVDRhelp without first letting me resolve your issue :(

Yes, it's definately worth the money. I am very pleased with my decision to purchase.

As to the other comments I would just like to make it very clear that person is not me to avoid any possibility of confusion. :)

can you just say that again one more time :D

I gathered it wasn't you anyway ;). I guess if the guy had posted I would have seen it by now as crashing and looping seems to be his issue

I noticed it's a WIN98 system so I guess it's just a case of a few updates OS files to get it working for him ;)

Well, Win98 as an OS should clearly rule me out as many of my problems come from running multiple processors. Win9x doesn't do SMP. NT, 2k, or XP are required for that.

Then again there is also the fact that person's comments are on the 5th. I didn't get the email with my key till the 6th. It would be kind of hard to have made such comments without yet having a version to start.

So, again to clarify, comments you linked to are not me.

that's strange seeing as it's posted on the 5th. The guy got his key 12am on the 6th GMT so I guess DVDRHelp is slghtly behind by a few hours

it didn't take him long to start complaining then did it?

like I said, I find it strange that he complained to Paypal within 3 hours of getting the key and also posted a comment at DVDRHelp yet did not post here when it's quite clearly stated what to do if you have issues!

The email I did get from him (at 3am in the morning for me and 15 mins before Paypal email) said roughly the same as his comment at DVDRHelp, so what do I do seeing as he hasn't responded to 2 of my emails?

I'm not happy this guy is bad mouthing DVDStripper especially using an older OS system. I could make a list as long as my arm of new software that doesn't work on 98 when first using it but I don't write it off like he seems to have ;)

I accept that some people will have issues but most can be resolved if I get enough feedback but how can I help someone who isn't around :(

I hope the looping isn't because he's clicking Rip each time instead of clicking Next after it's ripped. This may be a simple mistake as I can't imagine how it can be looping otherwise

I guess I'll just have to wait ;)

Zarish, are you sure it isn't you?, lol :D

Mackemx - it wasn't me!

An admitted win98 user, but just for lack of funds. Dvdstripper has worked fine for me so far.
I run win98 on an amd duron 900mhz processor w/ an 160gig hd, and an 13 gig hd. Once I figured out that I could hit next instead of rip with dvddecryptor I had it made.
This was the problem that had me looking for image software. Dvddecryptor and dvdshrink both tend to freeze my system anywhere from 20% to 2 seconds remaining (blue screen). Eventually, they both work, so by using dvddecryptor in cell id mode (you know what I mean) I am able to set the paths in stripper, and continue happily.
I have tried menuedit only briefly, however, because the trial version had no help, and stripper was talking about menumodder.

I await patiently, and hopefully you won't get a new key request from me!(the last reformat didn't change the volume id, but the one tonight did).

Thanks, da5idzero

I know it wasn't you but I'm pretty sure once the guy reads the email and FAQ again that he will realise he should post here ,instead of bad mouthing the tool at another forums comments page which is a little unfair :(

I've tried emailing him twice but for some reason he is not receiving my emails :(. I've asked someone to email him on my behalf so hopefully he will get the message
