Verbatim (BenQ) 4816P Power Cal issue???

OK, I got one of those ..."they pay you $15" deals at Office Max. The drive actually works Ok, but about half the time, if I erase a cd-rw, I get a "power Calibration Area Full" message in Nero 5.5.10.0.

My Lite-on will erase it, and the New drive can use it again and erase it again. But, if I then try to do a few erase operations the message comes back.

Anyone know if this is a drive problem, or is it likely the media?

TIA

its the media....do a search on google "power calibration error"...due to having high speed writers...but that is unusual for verbatim.....but I went to 24x cdrws and Imatation 32x media

Actually the Drive is Verbatim (BenQ 4816P) and the media is FRY's GQ 10x CD-RW Media. Not very expensive...and it does work. I have an Imation cd-rw media that I will try.

I got an answer from Verbatim. It is now a known Firmware issue to be fixed in the next release.
