Sonic Foundry's Vegas 4.0 beta has just been released, it's at

However, the beta requires registering via internet to function. After registration (which appears to involve transmitting a computer hash code to SF) you are e-mailed a .reg file to execute which ulocks the program. I don't know if the .reg file is machine specific. Beta expiration date is Feb 20, I'm told.
Also available is DVD Architect 1.0, but this looks like a cripple ware demo version that won't accept MPEG or AC3 files, but can be used to burn a demo project available for download.
Actual release date for both is around end of Feb.
