vcd to svcd

I have a vcd that I would like to change to svcd, can it be done, if not is there another way of formating it to play on DVD player. Mac

If your player will not play vcd then it wont play svcd.

I've never seen 1 that can anyway.

As daveml said, converting a VCD to a SVCD is NOT going to help. But waht brand and model is your DVD Player?

Try copying your VCD movie to a CDRW instead. Try different brands of CDR's and burn at lower speeds, like 4x. All these factors can influence the playback or lack off on a DVD Player.

the VCD was sent to me on cdr suposedly for the home dvd player which is the new APEX digital AD-1100WB dvd, which reads dvd, jpeg, mp3, svcd, kodak picture cd, etc, it plays all these formats but not plain vcd. Mac

There are 2 versions.
A 512k version which it says plays svcd but not vcd!!??
A 1 mb version that plays both.
What a sack of @*$£!

Sounds like you need to convert to SVCD then.

Read the DivX/ASF/MPEG to VCD tutorial, convert the DAT file on the VCD to MPG onto your HD with VCDGear (from _www.vcdgear.com), then load the MPG into TMPGEnc but now select the appropriate SVCD template (PAL or NTSC). The rest is in the tutorial.

Apex failed to pay the required VCD licence fee to Philips, and thus lost the rights to add that functionality to all players made after 15th April 2002.!!!

I contacted Apex about my problem with the Apex Digital DVD Player AD-100WB. It will play SVCD but not VCD,

Apex Digital's Response Is:

There will be a upgrade disc in stores for this feature in
september.
