vcd judder

This is probably my error, but when I use Tmpgenc to encode to mpeg, then burn to vcd I note a slight judder in the panning shots of any movie. Is this some thing to do with the framerate as I am converting them to Pal format whatever the framerate. I note that some of these movies are 23,97...... frames which should be converted using the Ntsc film template in Tmpgenc.

If I choose to use the NTsc film template will they play on my DVD, or do I need to convert them????

Yes, the judder is due to you converting 23.976 NTSC to 25 PAL. Allways leave the movie in its native format if going to VCD, your DVD Player will play it back fine. Just make sure in the DVD Player setup menu, you have the type of TV set at PAL and your player will convert on the fly during playback. It will then be jerk free.

I thought that's what it was, I did try to leave it and encode to 23,97.... but the audio then went gradually out of sync during the movie. I had extracted the audio using virtual dub and converted it as it was a ac3 sound track.

Why is it then out of sync when encoded back in with tmpgenc?

VCD Judder

Have encoded at 23, 976 as advised, film judder has gone but now and again the sound is out of sync, any ideas what i can do, as soon as it goes out of sync it corrects again. If you play the mpeg prior to nero constructing the vcd it plays fine.
Can't understand this one, obviously something now to do with Nero.
Advice please

Some dvd standalones just keep going out of sync.
Try using vcdeasy to burn/assemble the vcd.
That sometimes helps.
