Simple answer for your problem is Nandub. Whayt do you want to do with this file - split it? Nandub can handle mp3 vbr files.

I don't want to split it or convert it...just that Virtual Dub detected an improper VBR audio how do i correct it and have a perfect AVI file.

Well..
Avery Lee (the author of VDub) has written a statement some time ago about handling vbr audio. Nandub can handle this kind of streams, although the way it does it is not the perfect way - it's just a way around.
But as long as you can play your avi without any problems, that's fine. You shouldn't worry about this message. I did many movies with mp3 vbr and have never had any problems with them.
So, once again, if your movie plays fine - don't worry.

ya ..the movie plays fine... hmm..i did like to know more on how u can decompress to WAV file and recompress back and multiplex back to AVI?

IN Nandub (and VDub) there is an option of Save as WAV - actually it will not save your soundgtrack as WAV - it will be normal mp3 file (or if you're dealing with ac3 - ac3 file) with the extension .wav. Rename it to mp3 (or ac3). To decompress it to WAV use Winamp and it's Write_to_disk plugin. It will decompress it to WAV. Then you can use BeSweet or HeadAC3he to encode it to mp3 with different bitrate or vorbis.
If you want to multiplex it with your video, use Nandub once again.
If you're familiar with GraphEdit, you can decompress your audio to WAV in one step using right combination of filters.

It's all there. Just load your video, go to the Audio tab and select which audio file you want to multiplex (ac3, mp3). Don't forget to set Audio and Video to Direct Stream Copy and set Interleaving.
That's it.

take care

You get that error with VirtualDUB only because it cant handle a VBR Audio stream. The problem lies with VirtualDUB not your AVI. Assuming your AVI plays perfectly on the PC then thats the way it supose to do it. NanDUB (a re-write of VirtualDUB but no longer suported by the author) does handle VBR audio.

Most/many new AVI (DivX) are now made with VBR audio as it can make a smaller AVI, thats all.

If you really want to convert it to non-VBR or CBR MP3 audio, load AVI into NanDUB, in Audio tab, change to Full Prosessing mode, then select Compression, selct MP3 and choice the audio characteristics you want, (ie 48khz, 160bps Stereo or whatever). Then select Video tab and set to Direct Stream Copy. Go to File and select Save AVI. Give it a new name and wait for the job to finish. Done.
