Using NRESTORE with WinXP

I made a backup of a partition using Nero's Backup utitity, and on the first cd it has NRESTORE.exe - that you're suppose to run, etc.

But I get errors.

Is this a DOS only program? Or is there a way to run it in XP?

When I try to fun it, I get:

An application has attempted to directly access the hard disk, which cannon be supported. This may cause the application to function incorrectly. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.
and then it has a Close and Ignore button.

When I try and hit Ignore, it just gives the same prompt.

Is there a way to restore my backup that I made with Nero with WinXP?

Anyone know?

Thanks in advance!

Not much of a fan of Nero any more bud... so I can't help you there.

But I can't recommend to backup a partition in Windows... too many problems can crop up. I know there is a proggie or two that can do it, but I would just do it in DOS and use a proggie like Norton Ghost.

Or you may want to try TrueImage 6..
Used it on my XP sytem and has never let mi down when it come's to backing up HDD.. and restoring

I think what you need to do is boot from the CD. Put it in your drive, restart your computer, and get into your BIOS setup program. If you aren't sure how to do this, the motherboard user's guide should tell you. (pressing delete during boot works with mine) You should be able to change the boot settings so that the computer boots from the CDRom. Nrestore will load a copy of DrDos and hopefully any drivers you might need. Once everything is loaded you should have the option of restoring your drive from the backup. Hope this helps.
