Unable to read some DR-R

Someone kindly took images of very old documents which Wiltshire Record
Office would not allow to be photocopied with a digital camera and through a
third party (Julie Goddard of Family Tree) sent me a CD with these on. I
have been unable to open the CD. I returned the CD and another one was sent
but this had the same problem. My CD writer will open other CDs, even ones
sent to me from non-professionals. Any idea why it refuses for this one.
Thank in advance

Another format which causes trouble, is DirectCD on CD-R - unless this has been ejected with the "Make readable on all drives" option, the only thing which can touch it is a writer with DirectCD.

For packet-written CD-RW - a CD-RW capable (multiread) reader is required, and UDF Reader software

Not looked too deeply, but fell over THESE:
http://mes.emuunlim.com/software/macemu/ - Mac Emulators
http://mes.emuunlim.com/software/macemu/emuextras.htm - utilities inc CD-reading.

On looking some more, if you suspect MAC format, just go to "Quick stop", and Look up HFV Explorer and the help on it.

XP and Win2000 SP3+ don't need a UDF reader driver- it's embedded. Some older DirectCD disks which used both an ISO and a UDF session might be a problem, though.
The most common MAC burner (UnRoxxio Toast) burns joliet extensions by default, but this might have been altered.
