Hello ...

Nah, it wasn´t my car which was been tuned, it was our server !
People, I had some time and spent some time with looking into some documents.
After our upstream provider finally fixed the routing troubles, it was time to speed up the server as well :)
Did some tweaks to MySQL and some "cache" thingies.
Now the server load dropped a lot and this forum is now damn fast :)

More to come ..
Hope you enjoy ...

Thanks fly out to Zoiah, he always help me with the icky config files and with Linux of course ... :)

Hmm, something like that ...
Had some troubles lately with a too big load :(
So what I tried is to update to MySQL 4. Which I did, and the good thing about it is: the capability of caching querries.
So the server is now less busy with MySQL and page generation is now quite fast ...
I am happy with the speed improvement, and yet no problem apeared, so yes ..
I think that is a success for now :)

then I will look for something like that ..
There is surely something ..

The last time I did try to implement such a thing I just messed everything up so ...
Yeah, maybe a new try is needed :)

Server is running RedHat :)
Personally I am using RedHat and Debian ...
From time to time, especially for recovering I use Knoppix ...

I better stick to a system I am used to ..
Kinda into Redhat already ...
and I am sure nobody would be able to breach our server thourgh the system ..
The last "hack" was done through a lame injection bug in a broken PHP script ...

If anybody is able to hack this box, I am gone invite that guy for an good austrian beer :)

Jup ..
and RedHat still offers the better professionel service ... so that is another reason to do not use a "freak" distro like Debian :)

The server was installed a while ago so it is quite and old version of RedHat ...
it is version 7.2 but all updates are installed and running actual kernel of course :)

Though RedHat 9 is nice as well ... ;)
