Trying to show a DVD who's in charge

With the help of the fine people here, I've been on a roll backing up my DVDs. I have encountered a problem. though, and can't seem to quite find the definitive guide.

I've been keeping the movie and menu (play and scene selection) only. I use DVDStripper and MenuEdit, and DVD2One if I need to shrink the movie to get it to fit on a DVD+R. As I said, smooth sailing until I got to one movie in particular. DVD2One quits fairly quickly with an "error adjusting the IFO File". The movie plays fine (from the hard drive) after DVDStripper is done with it. I've tried DVDShrink and CloneDVD and they also had issues with it. I even tried DVDDecrypter in file mode and then the shrink tools, all problems.

When I try to do it without menus, no problems. So, obviously the menus are confusing it some. As a side note, the menus occupy about 0.04 MB of space (reported by DVDStripper) but removing the menu causes the necessary compression rate to go from 58% to 74%. Screwy menus, though they do not seem odd to use.

Since every other movie in this series has been backed up with the scene selection, I'd really like to do this one that way also. Is there some guide for backing up the movie only with menu (scene selection) using the nuts and bolts tools, like Ifo Edit?

Thanks a million.

Have you tried any of Laz's stuff?
The Totally FREE & Easy DVD Backup guide
or (which I haven't tried yet)
InterVideo DVD Copy 2 Tutorial
Just a thought but the first one works for me.

I tried the first guide, and it didn't work. I ripped the movie OK, but when I point DVDShrink to the folder it errors, saying it can't open the VIDEO_TS.VOB file. The movie plays fine from the hard drive using PowerDVD, so the vob file can't be in that bad of shape.

Any thoughts?

Fixed: Trying to show a DVD who's in charge

Got through the problem, so I thought I'd post my solution in case someone else runs into it.

To recap, I use DVDStripper for backing up DVDs. I keep only the movie and the scene selection. I use MenuEdit to disable buttons I do not want and DVD2One to shrink what's left if it is too big for a DVD+R. Has worked seamlessly (thanks to CPUKiller) for over 2 dozen disks.

I ran into one where (I believe) the menu structure was causing problems. DVDStripper did it's job with no trouble. DVD2One errored out, saying "Error adjusting IFO File. Does not match with the VOB file". If I told it movie only, it worked, it's when I included the menu (the only other thing left in the folder) that it had troubles. It played fine from the hard drive, however.

I tried using DVDDecrypter in File mode to rip and then DVD2One, CloneDVD and DVDShrink. All problems unless I did "movie only".

What did work was using DVDShrink on the VIDEO_TS folder that DVDStripper created. I told DVDShrink to do the whole movie, since I had already removed everything I didn't want. Pretty much what I tell DVD2One to do, but that didn't work for whatever reason.
