Track points moving when encoding to mp3

I am having trouble with cue sheets and mp3's.
The process is as follows.

I have a continously mixed dj set.
Using EAC i do "Copy Image and Create Cue Sheet" after retrieving track name info from freedb.org.
So i now have the .wav and associated .cue.
I now use Razorlame with Lame 3.90 compile to encode this .wav to .mp3 using the alt-preset extreme switch.
The problem is, the cue sheet track marks are all out of sync on the new mp3. The .wav is fine.
I understand that there are some frames created in the mp3 creation process at the very start and end of the mp3, but it is only 1 long mp3 file and the track marks are a good few seconds out of sync!
Is there a way to get a program to adjust the cue points or something similar.
I am using Winamp 2.80 with the mp3cue plug-in to play the files.
Thanks.
