Super Slim Form Factor Delivers 80GB Of Storage

IRVINE, Calif., June 24, 2003 – Toshiba’s Storage Device Division (SDD), the industry pioneer in small form factor hard disk drives (HDDs), today announced an 80GB 2.5-inch hard disk drive. With an areal density of 64.8 gigabits per square inch and a super slim package measuring 9.5mm high, Toshiba’s MK8025GAS hard disk drive provides an ideal solution for mobile computing and consumer electronics.

Toshiba’s lightweight, two-platter 80GB hard disk drive weighs only 98 grams, providing high performance in a slim design. Also available is a 40GB capacity (MK4025GAS), Toshiba’s latest hard disk drive family accommodates the storage needs of multi-functional mobile PCs and other applications, such as telecommunications, printers, copiers, GPS systems and MP3 players.

Toshiba’s hard disk drives can withstand operational shock of up to 200G and non-operating shock of up to 800G, providing PC and consumer electronics manufacturers with a rugged, durable storage solution. The 2.5-inch drives support the ATA-6 interface and have a rotational speed of 4,200 RPM.
