TMPGENC problem

I've alredy read the thread on TMPGENC tips and it said to set the directshow multimedia file reader to 2. It was at 3 by default while I experienced the problem. So I set it to 2, samething. The problem is whenever I load the movie and click start, it just freezes up and then says it has to shutdown. Before my pc crashed, I was able to convert Xvid videos no problem. I can convert DIVX and other avi files, just not xvid. I have the neccessary codecs installed. I can play the movie in WMP just fine. I can even convert with Allvideoconverter; I just can't with TMPGENC now.
Here is the info on the xvid movie

Here is the environment settings of TMPGENC

VFAPI-Plugin Property
Directshow Multimedia file reader 3
AVI2 file reader 1
AVI VFW compatibility reader 0
Cyberlink- MPEG-2 Decoder 0
Microsoft- MPEG-I Decoder 0
Wave file reader 0
BMP\PPM\TGA\JPG file reader -2

The default is -1 and personally I have never seen the need to change it, the XviD VFW decoder works fine for me with TMPGEnc.

These other files that convert, do they also use AC3 audio?

TMPGenc just cant handle AC3 audio. Use Nandub to extract and convert the AC3 to a WAV file, then in TMPGEnc, use that new wav file for Audio siurce and the Xvid for Video source. All explained more in the DVD to VCD tutorial.
