TMPGEnc Locking Up !!!

The last 3 movies (divx) I tried to encode all froze up at various points. Never happened before....no new program installs....both harddrives freshly defragged SiSandra benches and looping 3D Mark 2001 run fine as did looping QIII demo for 2 hrs. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.... I don't want to reinstall XP. By the way I've got an Athlon XP 1800+ & 512mb ddr ram.
Thanks

shouldn't be a problem with your system, but most likely the divx files you got have errors in them (these errors most times won't be noticed during regular playback off the PC).
If we knew what errors came up when tmpgenc froze it would be easier to help (if any errors came up).
Most times they are due to sound, so suggest you use the virtualdub/nandub method of ripping the sound from the avi file to wav & then after loading video source into tmpgenc, load that wav as the sound source.
Hope that helps, otherwise try posting again (or wait for more replies).
Good luck

Yep I agree with Shadoe.
I had a hell of a time encoding Divx to vcd with tmpgenc.
It just kept freezing at various points.
I do the above fix every time now and it solved the problem.

Now here's the strange part. I was able to encode a file to one hard drive but if I try to encode the same file to the other drive it (TMPGEnc) locks up.

Simple solution is to encode then to the HD that works :D Sorry, couldnt help myself.

As I say in my Tutorials, re-boot the computer to a "clean" Windows before running TMPGEnc, I find TMPGEnc does all sorts of wierd things if you dont.
