TMPGenc dvd author sound

I purchased both CCE and TMPGenc dvd author yesterday, ran it through and the good news is the watermark has dissapeared!, the bad news however is that when i convert the movie to dvd format using dvd author there is no sound.
I did everything that was asked in the tutorial and converted my encoded audio mpeg to ac3 format using the ac3 machine as instructed. In the tutorial chickenman reccomends playing the IFO file back to test it, however, I cannot playback the IFO file using either power dvd or WMP, it just doesnt recognise the file type, this is the same for the ac3 audio file i created, there is no icon in the window and it doesnt recognise it.

help?!

HOPE YOU GUYS ARENT GETTING SICK OF ME!

thnx for the help so far,

syph.

Yes you can playback IFO's using Power DVD. Run Power DVD and 'Ctrl-O' will open the 'select source' requester. Select 'open dvd file on hard disk drive' and browse to you 'Video_TS' folder. This is all that is required for it to play the DVD using your 'IFO's' , 'BUP's' and 'VOB's created with TMPGenc dvd author. ac3 files will play by just dropping into WMP (providing the codec is installed).
However , ... surely your ac3 file should have already been encoded into the DVD film in TMPGenc dvd author, DVD maestro or similar authoring prog.

thanks for the help, ive managed to get the entire video_ts of the movie playing through power dvd but there is still no sound.
I am unsure as to wether i have the ac3 codecs installed... where do i get these from and how/where abouts do i install them on my pc?

And yes the audio file was encoded onto the dvd with TMPGenc author, i just cant hear it...
Just as a test i authored the movie using the mp2 audio file and i played this back with power dvd with no problems, but like it says in the guide some dvd players dont like mp2 so i guess i cant stick with it.
Why then does it play with sound when i use the mp2 file and not the ac3 file? is it because i dont have the codec installed?
Im confused about this.

please enlighten me!

thanks for your time
