I have downloaded the trialware of TmpGenc DVD Author. I have 2 questions

1) After you author can you view the DVD before burning so you can make sure everything is okay, if so how?

2) Can the trialware can you author AC3 audio and will it work when burning the DVD on my standalone

Thanks :D

1. Yes of course. Dont let DVDLab burn your authored files, just author to your HD (untick Automatically Start Recording in the Post-Compile options). The VOB files should be in a VIDEO_TS folder, then just double click any *.IFO file and it should start playing provided you have DVD Player installed, such as WinDVD or PowerDVD, etc.

2. As it quotes at DVDLab's download page "This is a Full 30-days evaluation version." Assuming you have good quality media, your DVD Player plays DVDR's okay, you burnt it with reliable software and the AC-3 file wasnt made with BeSweet, then your got a better than average chance of it playing without problems. :)

Thanks Chickenman.

I have mucked around with AC3 machine and I have it working, however when I author using TMPGenc using AC3 audio when I play it back after authoring there is no sound and the video plays back in slow motion. I have checked that it is playing at the normal speed. If I author using a wav file then the playback is okay, however the file is too bnig to write to DVD

Can you help

Cheers

Even when purchasing the TMPGEnc DVD Author (TDA) AC3 Pluggin, it still has problems patching into TDA for some reason (probably because its new !) But it does work as a standalone WAV to AC3 converter. Run the TMPGEnc Sound Player, hit the Encode button, drag your WAV file into the left window, select Dolby Digital AC3 output on the right window. Double click the Settings button and change the Bitrate to what your after (either 192 or 224 ). Then select an output folder and hit the big Encode button. This program does not "normalize" the sound level. If the AC3 file is very quiet, then use BeSweet to normalize the WAV to another WAV file, then convert that one to AC3.

Of if you really want the best, use AC3Enc that comes with Sonic Scenarist or Sonic SoftEncode, both make compliant and "normalized" AC3 files. Its just slow.

AC3Machine uses BeSweet for all its conversions, so you get the same problems with it as with BeSweet GUI.

As you already have an answer to your question, I might like to ask you where you downloaded TempGenc from as I recently acquired Pinnacle Studio 8 DV Clip (LE). Hence I cannot burn DVD's. Thanks for your help. Best regards
