TmpgEnc and Widescreen

Hi guys....after following Chickenman's guide for divx to dvdr my AMD PC kept on crashing soon after starting to decode..even after a clean install....anyway for now i have resorted to TmpegEnc 2.5 Standalone (first extracting the sound via VirtualDub)

Where as in DVD2SVCD/CCE i could make the Xvid/Divx anamorphic so it would fit my widescreen tv i can't do this in TmpgEnc. Can Tmpgenc stretch out the say 2:35 picture? The only one that came close was the suggested Full Screen (Keep Aspect Ratio) but this produces a Letterbox picture...is there any other option?

Thanxs for your help :D

Also, try using DVD2SVCD with TMPGenc as your encoder rather than CCE then. Does that crash also? Have you got the Add ResampleAudio ticked in the Frameserver tab of DVD2SVCD. Thats essential for an AMD system (like mine).

yup thxs i used dvd2svcd with the TmpgEnc encoder and have followed your tutorial to the tee. It didn't crash and encoded the file as i wanted....however with this file i used constant quality @80% it then done about 6 tests the 83.5% produced 2.5 gb file and the 100% would have produced a 5.6gb file...so it decided to do it at 83.5%!! the ac3 file was about 380mb anyway quality seems not bad but obviously would like to use up the whole disk...should i use constant bitrate (quick) or a 2 Pass VBR?

I have a XP2600 with 512ddr and a n-force Asus A7N8X Deluxe board...and encoding a 1hr 54min xvid orginally split over 2 cd's that i joined.

thxs!! :D

Set TMPGenc to 2 pass VBR for best results, Thats equal to 1 Multipass VBR with CCE. Set Motion Search to Highest Quality (Very Slow) for best results also.

I have the same cpu & m/b as yourself, just a bit more ram though. :D

Great results Chickenman!! Unfortunatly my trusty Pioneer 717 didn't like the VBR encoded dvdr and the picture started to stutter and paused. :( oh well!! might try with the usual contant bitrate and see if it works...as it has before.

Most retail DVD's are VBR, I assume they play on your system okay? Stuttering & pausing can also be the media you used problem, Try changing media. Also burning software can influence it, again change from UDF/ISO to DVD-Video if using Nero, for example.

Hmm yeah burnt in Dvd-video mode in Nero X2 speed..(i have a pioneer 106 that burns at X4) the usual Memorex DVD-R i use have never had a problem...might burn it again on a dvd+RW and see how it goes.
