TMPEGEnc won't recognise AVI??

I have been converting a lot of AVI files to VCD thanks to ChickenMan's awesome tutorials.
I have just tried to convert a DIVX/AVI and TMPEGEnc says:

Cannot open or unsupported

When I look in the properties of the AVI, it says:

640 x 304, 174927 Frames, 23.976 Frames/Sec, 93 KB/Sec, Unknown Format

I have all the latest codecs-3.11/5.1.1/XVID.

The AVI plays fine in Media Player.

*UPDATE* I have since checked the AVI with GSPOT and discovered that it is DIV3 format.

Any suggestions

Thanks

wmp uses directshow filters for playback where as TMPGEnc by default requires a VFW decoder. Either install a VFW decoder such as DivX 5.x/ffvfw or crank the dshow reader's priority in TMPGEnc.

Now you say you have DivX 5.x installed already, I would suggest re-installing it. If that doesn't help check HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Drivers32 and remove any blank vidc entries.

Fixed.......well kind of!?

Thanks.......I cranked the dshow reader's priority up and it worked, although now I have another problem  ......see new post "TMPEGEnc stops at DivX fix point?! "
