Solution to "there is no common media type between these pins"
I too have Sonic's MYDVD that came with my Sony DVD burner. I get the error "there is no common media type between these pins" when I try to bring in demultiplexed video (mpv file) and try to burn the new DVD or create a DVD folder. I am using a new RCA settop DVD writer and am trying to edit out commericials in my computer. Anyway, here is how I have solved the problem (in stepwise fashion) :
1. Record the program from my Tivo onto a DVD+RW using the RCA DVD Writer.
2. Copy the files onto my hard drive either directly or using DVD2one (in movie only mode) which resizes the VOB files. At this point I can burn burn the unedited video to DVD using Nero.
3 Bring in the VOB files into Womble MPEG-VCR and edit out the commercials.
4. Crucial point: before you save the edited video, go into the audio options, click on the AC3/MPEG button and change the frequency of the audio from 48mhz to 44.1mhz. This is what prevents the "no common media type between these pins" later on.
5. Now save the edited video.
6. MyDVD sometimes rejects the resulting MPG file (i.e, will not import them), so use the Demultiplexer in Womble and demultiplex the resulting MPG files to MPV and MPA files.
7. Now bring the the MPV files (the video part) into MYDVD, it will automatically associate the MPA files (the audio part) with them. If there are multiple MPV files, bring them in stepwise fashion (part 1, part 2 etc and MY DVD will automatically link the parts these will play sequentially on the resulting DVD.
8. Now change the menu style and wording to your liking.
9. Save the project and create a DVD folder instead of burning directly ( for multiple burns later or for resizing the video if it will not fit on your DVD using DVD2one or DVDshrink.
10. Now burn the resulting DVD folder using Nero.
11. And viola, works every time! I hope this helps others!
