The right tools and version #´s ?

Hi,

I´ve spent the last 2 days here on CDRSOFT, which is without any doubt the best resource on the net, with reading about the ways to rip DVD´s and make VCD´s and SVCD´s.

Till now I used DVDx because it was fast and easy to learn and the results haven´t been bad at all but life is a challenge and so I would like to try the way you pros do it ! :D

The first troubles I ran into: the various versions for each program and the related pros and cons. I printed out both tutorials from ChickenMan (How to backup your DVD's to SVCD) and (How to backup your DVD to VCD (using DVD2SVCD)) and downloaded the programs.

Here is what I have so far:

- TMPGEnc v258.44.152 plus (with serial #)
- SmartRipper 2.4.1
- CinemaCraft Engine 2.50 (with cce 2 50 cr.zip)
- DVD2SVCD 1.0.9 Build 3 bundle
- DVD2SVCD 1.1.0 Build 1 (and vcd-chickenman settings.zip)
- VCDEasy full 1.1.2

Now my first questions:

1) Is my software collection missing something important or did I choose the wrong version to make VCD´s or SVCD´s?

2) I am using an Athlon XP1800+ and recall reading about some problems with CCE 2.50 but could not figure out what to do and from where to download a necessary patch or bugfix.

3) Are there other important patches or bugfixes available I am not aware of?

4) In the SVCD tutorial "DVD2SVCD 1.0.9 Build 3" is mentioned, the VCD tutorial talks about adding "DVDSVCD 1.1.0 Build 1" and "VCD-ChickenMan Settings.ini" - do I have to install "1.0.9 Bulid 3" in one directory to make SVCD´s and the final VCD version "1.0.9 + 1.1.0 + settings.ini" into another one to use each of them for their main prurposes, or can I just install the final version for VCD´s to make SVCD´s as well?

5) Anything else I should be aware of?

Thanks for any help
TomKit

I just downloaded CCE 2.66 and the Patcher 0.3.9.

Should I go with the newer version or stick to the CCE 2.50?

What I didn´t understand so far is the difference between the standalone and the plugin version. The 2.66 is a standalone, can I still use it the way ChickenMan´s turtorial explains?

Thanks again

Okay hear goes.

1. Yes you have all the software needed.

2. I also have an Athlon 1800+ and no problems with DVD2SVCD. Nor does anyone else.

3. For the CCE 2.50, best is to get the 0.39 CCE patch posted elsware in this forum, just use the search button at top of page.

4. No you can use DVD2SVCD v 1.1.0 b 1 for both VCD and for SVCD. I use it for both. 1.1.0 b1 is the ONLY version that can make VCD's though.

5. Always very handy to have Besweet and its GUI installed + its user programs like 2lame, azid, etc etc for all your audio conversions that you may need from time to time when problems occur. Also read the A/V sync problems tutorial to be aware of whats needed if these ever occur.

Leave cce 2.66 alone if you want to use DVD2SVCD, just stay with 2.50 and it will work.
