The question is:

- Both, - I guess

- and what a successfull combination. Just look how popular the site became in very short time. I do think it speaks for it self ;)
N.B. understood to give the people what they wanted.............;)

You got me wrong.

Many people visited cdrsoft because of the progs.
N.B, when you created cdrsoft, what was your objective???
To give warez or to create a cdr community??

CDRsoft should not necessarily include warez cdr softwares.
Instead, CDRsoft should promote information about CD softwares.
This is the real spirit of CDRsoft.
Besides, its the warez which killed CDRsoft.
So, N.B, if you want to keep the warez stuff, it would be wise to host them elswhere. (less traffic on mainsite)

- I do think I know what you are heading at. Hmmm, - I can in no way at all talk on behalf of N.B., but I can't see why he should "create" anything which is already out there in numbers of hundreds. I strongly believe N.B. created exactly what he wanted: THE CDR-SITE PEOPLE ALL OVER THE WORLD HAD BE WAITING FOR. The site that got it all. And he succeded far beyond any expection. And I do NOT agree with you, when you are stating that it was the warez which killed CDRSOFT, - it was the missing appreciation of the users!!!!:(

You may not agree with me, but it's people dwlding the warez which generated so much bandwidth usage that N.B could not pay for.

ZoZekool........

- I do agree with you to a point, just looking at it from a different angle I think. The warez did kill the place when it comes to money (it was not me with my slow connection and few downloads), but without the warez I'm afraid that some of the spirit of the place, and users/sources in the forum, would be lost. I just loved this place because I could find it all in one place (and with a slow connection you appreciate that). Look in many, many threads, people are saying the same as me: This place got it all (before).
And that is what I think N.B. wanted to create, and what he succeded in. If I'm not very mistaken N.B. had a vision, and he fulfilled that. When he had to face that it could not work any longer (due to money), he prefered to step down insted of starting making shortcuts. I can only respect that, even though I deeply regreet his decision.:(

Again, - still I'm only guessing. Do not know N.B. any better than you. This is only my thoughts comming out of reading comments in this (and other) forums;)

The site was found by Golem and was meant as Warez Site, nothing else ..
In the time Golem founded it, the freespace providers didn´t care about traffic ...
So you could use GeoCities and others for upload !
Now this is different, they all have a filesizelimit (~500kb) and a traffic limit, so ..
Hosting the files on freehosts is impossible for CDRSoft ..
We do far oo much traffic for this !
I know it sucks, but we have to host the downloads on our server ...
There isn´t any other way ..

People who think I should watch out for cheaper hosting:
I looked for 3 years ..
Since I am webmaster @ cdrsoft ... and I think I have already the best solution ..

So far ...

Hi.I just need to say this. The Cdrsoft forum is a very small part of the main site. The traffic to the forum was, and is generated by the main site.

N.B. decided to create this forum in September, rather than link to other people's forums. He asked me to take care of it for him.It was another way for him to help his members out.The forum has gone well, and is another nice addition to the main site.

Cdrsoft.cc has been developed so well that the server costs have gone up dramatically. That is where the problem lies. Now it needs a solution,or it will go by the wayside(might be done already).

The fact is people love Cdrsoft.cc!They find the news and software, etc.that they are looking for.It was the best site on the net!(my opinion)

Agreed Woody.

N.B. created a comunity with CDRSoft. It was not the progs, forum or news. It was the whole thing. And on the whole most of the people in the forum are great guys who try and help anyone and we would all do the same for each other when we can help. OK, so you do get the odd jack@ss now and again but compared to other CDR forums it's not very often.

I think it will be back for sure, well I hope it will. :)

Switching the main site from HTML to PHP Nuke was the best I ever did :)
User comments and many features ...

CDRSoft will return !
Sooner or later ...
