The New Clone cd versions.

The New Clone Features

The newest versions of Clone Cd 3201(Not recommended, because of bugs)and higher, add new features to allow Safedisc2 backups with non compatible writers. So if your writer can write Safedisc (old) it should be able to write Safedisc2 with Clone cd.

The two main new features are AWS, 'amplify weak sectors'and 'hide cdr'.

Amplify weak sectors is used to make working backups of Safedisc2 games. It works for writers that can do safedisc(old)but do not do proper EFM encoding for Safedisc2.

Hide cdr is used to stop atip checks of new Safedisc2 and New Securom games. You can now play and install your games in the writer or cd/dvdrom drive.

After installing Clone Cd and rebooting the two new options will be available (except U.S.,legal issues). After the reboot you will see an icon in the taskbar. You enable 'hide cdr" from here to play games and avoid atip checks. This is very useful since most new games and some game patches integrate an atip check to stop copies from working in the writer. It only functions when playing your games(if enabled).

AWS is only available after you make an image and set the write settings. You just check off the AWS box,or use load settings with the profile protcd.ccp

If you live in the U.S.

Do this before installing Clone cd.
You can simply go to control panel and make changes in the regional settings(and possibly keyboard too)..
Just use Canada instead. We use the same time zones,so it is no big deal!Welcome to Canada!!!Then read 'A' it applies here now.

Under Windows 9x, you may find that the other system locales are masked and thus the Region Settings only show a multiple listing of the same (or default) locale. Just scroll up or down and select a blank area in the listing. Then, click the 'Apply' button and click 'Yes' to the 'Restart' message. Go back to Regional Settings and you should now see a list of all available system locales.

2. Install CCDv3201 or higher and the install setup should enable the new features.

* NOTE: If the AWS & Hide CDR do not activate, run Regedit and do a search (Find) for 'AmplifyWeak' or go to the following key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Elaborate Bytes\CloneCD\Settings

Once you've located 'AmplifyWeak', double-click it and change the Value data field from 0 (disabled) to 1 (enabled). ** If two AmplifyWeak appear, enable value for both entries. ** Then, reboot to reset the new setting.
*************************************
If you don't want to change regional settings

This might work..

1. Run REGEDIT
2. Perform a search for "amplifyweak".
3. Double click when found, and enable by entering "1" instead of "0".
"Amplify weak"if it appears twice in the registry, make sure you enable both.

Bonus

These new Clone versions also do a great job of Copying Cactus Data shield protected cd's(and some other audio protections). Use the audio.ccp profile (load)in the user settings.*NOTE*this audio option works well with Plexwriters, other writers may not work.
**************************************
If you have An Sd2 Capable burner just Use your normal settings and disable the 'AWS' settings.Enabling 'hide' cdr will disable atip checks when playing the games..

Sd2 game titles here

uhh

Maybe this is a dumb question,

But what if you use "amplify weak sectors" and are already using a writer that is safedisc 2 compatible?

Hi bud. The game will still work, but you don't need it(AWS).Disable it if your writer can write SD2.AWS is for ""patching",similar to betablocker,I believe.

how do we know if our burner is sd2 compatible?......does it say on the cd support site at : h**p://elby.org/CloneCD/english/cdr_l.htm
?

does the entry under writer capabilities for proper EFM encoding also refer to SafeDisc 1 or is it only for safedisc 2 burning?

Yes,it just needs raw reading and writing for "old" safedisc.Proper EFM encoding is needed for SD2.

Used the Canada Trick and it works!!!

Just used the 3.341 on Alanis Morissetes audio cd, it's copy protected. Got a clean, perfect copy with "read sub channels, usual error skips and AWS". Before AWS usually got 50% coasters on protected music...can't wait to try the soundtrack from the "Fast and the Furious" I hear it has the Newest Gen copy protection!

Thanks for the help! :)

copy Metal of Honor with plextor 24/1040A

ok, i did the canada thing, and wont work. just keeps reading cd on drive. i made sure that aws is checked and and doing read sub data, audio, dont report errors, fast error skip, and error correction none for making image.

for writing
buffer under run, and aws, RAW DAO, Max Write.

Can someone tell me what im doing wrong. also, do i need aws checked since my burner is comfermed to read and write safedisk2?

Settings for sd2 reading:4x,fast error skip,error correction"software",read retries"3"
Burn:dao,always close last sesion...
Unfortunally you're dealing with the latest safedisk 2.51,there are rumours that the Plex can't copy this 1....at the moment,it seems that only the LiteOn can beat this version of sd2...
I have managed too make a 1:1 copy of Medal of Honour(SD2.51) using my Plextor 121032s with AWS and a write speed of x4, any higher and it will not work.

Greetz to all forum members and the team who created it :D

hmmmmmmmmmm wondering here re this 4x speed on burn with the plextor !?

PLEXTORS
kicks in at 4x ?! just a thought here !?

..... maby this is why it works !? or sometimes works !? my CDRW is 4x that i test burn with and ive had success with a few safedisk 2.51 titles with it !?

any faster with other media it fails everytime !?

i think we need to test this theory more !?

I dont have problems backing up my games and i dont have a Efm compatable cd drive. when the game boots up the backup does not register as the original true but safedisk 2.5 does not stop me copying the game.
All i do is make 1:1 copy and use daemon tools to run the iso as a virtual drive. no No-CD patch needed.

Ok let me explain, the SCSI Plextor 12/10/32s can write SD2 out at x4 like i already mentioned. My mate around the corner has the IDE version of my writer and can burn SD2 at x8 I have done many tests and comparisons with both writers, and they still need too use the AWS setting. Liteone doesnt need to use this setting, but as reader, no comment, my Plextor takes care of that.

Since the introduction of Alcohol 120% and the fact it can burn all new games having SD2 protection as well as being able to cope with all revisions of New Securerom, I would say this is good.

They also work in any Drive and you don't need CloneCD hide cdr setting. To be perfectly honest with you, the only CloneCD I have stuck with his v3.3.4.1. CloneCD 4 is pure *****. Unless Ollie can work some magic then Alcohol 120% carries the crown :)

Ollie go back too CloneCD v3 and merge the Scout or Clony too detect the protection and then let it check the writer compatibility and if all is ok, let it go.
