svcd-vcd

hello all
ok i know i little about this but having a prob converting svcd to vcd using nero:( or is this not possible!! ive been told it can be done,by copying the mpeg file to your HD,then opening nero start a new vcd and drag the mpeg over to the new job.

im using a old nero 4.0.9.5 as when i install any of the new nero's i lose me write speeds.

do i need a plug in to do this task ?

heres hopeing

Dont try to use Nero for encoding any movie files.
Its alright for burning vcd/svcd but as far as movies go thats it.
If u put "vcd svcd" in the search box you will find several threads on this subject.

I also recommend what Joripe says above.:D

lost

thanks lads
but it still sounds a lot to do :(just to change the already made svcd to vcd and ive looked at the links got sore eyes now:p after all that reading .

is there not 1 simple proggie that i can use as ive got the svcd on me hard drive all ready and just want to change it to vcd so i can watch it on me home dvd player.

ive tried nero with no luck  but dvd player is saying its a vcd disc in there,so i think its not converting the svcd file over to vcd.
i know u said dont use nero but have heard its ok and that theres a plug in to do it

the file is named AVSEQ01 which in the properties say's mpeg thats all i been told i need to change so 3 proggies seems a bit much and a lot of work or am i just being thick :D :D

oooh well i can always try another 3 disc:rolleyes:

The only way to do it is to process the avseq01 file with dvd2avi and then use tmpegenc to re-encode it to vcd format.
If u have 3 files u can then merge them together and recut into 2 files/2 cds.
There is no easy way round it and it takes quite a lot of time and effort.
Svcd and vcd are completely different formats and u cant easily change between them. sorry!:D

lol back again :p
been trying to do this svcd to vcd with no luck have tried to use the dvd2avi as said in the above replies, but it does'nt even recognise the AVSEQ01 file and cant get the file into the proggie any help please :(

Yep you are right, Nero should be able to convert a SVCD to VCD but as you notice from the answers above, no is recomending it (nor me!). Reason, the output is crappy quality.

As daveml said, follow the DVD to VCD tutorial, but load your SVCD mpg file into DVD2AVI instad of the DVD VOB files. Just follow from there. Its pretty simple really and you will get the best quality possible.

Better still, have a read at http://forum.cdrsoft.cc/showthread.php?s=&threadid=6000

svcd to vcd

u could always try using tmpge,
go to mpeg tools and load the the dat file into the bit where it says simple multiplex. just remember to make sure the out put is mpg 1 then run it. Cant remember where I found this but it seems to work and only takes about half hour to redo. It just changes the headers apparently

gabbytwin, yes what you suggested can work but does not work for all DVD players. Also what you make is a very non standard SVCD or VCD ( actaully an XVCD so dont call it a SVCD). If you intend to every trade with that version, tread very lightly and expect the trader to come back to you with it.

I have posted a Tutorial in the meantime, its worth a read. Its at http://forum.cdrsoft.cc/showthread.php?s=&threadid=10544
