svcd pb on/off...newbie

hi,
i have been burning movies using Nero 5.5 to vcd & svcd and all play well through Power DvD on my pc.
But when I try to play them on my DVD player some of them do not play.
The player is a Ronin all singing and dancing model plays dvd/vcd/svcd/mp3 etc etc, only bought new 2 months ago.

It recognises the type of disc vcd/svcd etc and then displays" PB OFF"
and does not play, I have tried the pb button on my remote to override this but to no avail, seems like theres something telling it to turn PB Off.

Not all movies do this, does anyone know anything about this.....
Is there something I can modify within the files...

Thanks....

Welcome to the forum, hope you like your stay.

You say the Ronin player is an all singing & dancing model, but have you actually played any SVCD's on it ? Is it just those that come up with PB OFF that dont play and those that dont, do play?

hi chickenman
yes I have played svcd's on it, all vcd's and all svcd's show the pbc on or off state regardless of whether they play or not.
most start automatically.
I have gone to the setup screen of my dvd player to set pbc off but still does not play them

update. on my dvd menu before putting disc in, I set pbc to ON, then put disc in tray dvd player reads disc as svcd, then displays PBC OFF
and does not play, small black square in top right hand corner, I push play on the remote and nothing.........

How are you making your SVCD's in the first place, what software/process are you using?

What software are you using to burn them to CDR as well ?

After downloading, I have a .bin file, I then rename this as a .iso file
then using Nero 5.5.10.7 I select Super Video CD, PAL ,and from the
ISO tab, ISO level 1 and ISO 9660 (which seen to be the default).
and from the Burn tab, I tick the Write box and the Finalize CD box,
Write speed "32", Write method "Disk at once", then I click the Open button, find my .iso file and select then Write and away it goes.

........

If you have the image as a .bin file, why not just burn this straight off with CDRWin, Burnatonce, Nero etc. etc.?

A .BIN file is not an ISO file, by re-naming is only confusing the whole issue. As Deft said, there are lots of progs that can burn the bin file directly. In Nero, click File and select Burn Image. That is the way you use Nero to burn BIN or ISO images.

thanks boyz...job done works a treat...
I don't know where I got that "re-name to ISO" thing from.
Anyway Nero is pretty active tonight burning hot and fast...
thanks again
