SVCD Gurus, please give me a hint ...

Hi all,

could somebody tell me what I am doing wrong, please ?
I'm ripping and converting a DVD to SVCD with DVD2SVCD using CCE 2.50.
I do it with 2 audio AND 2 Subtitles (not permanent). Everything works fine. The program is making the bin/cue files I am asking for with VCDXBuild. The XML files in the folder are revealing that they took the right files (bbMPEG ..... subbed !!!) so I can assume that the subtitles are included in the image files.
Now my problem is that I am not able to switch any of the subtitles on when watching the SVCD on my ( I have to admit) older standalone DVD player - it's a Lasonic 2000. I do have 2 audios which I can switch very nice, but the subs are not accessible.
I've tried the burning step many ways: with Nero (yeah, I know what you will tell me), but also with VCDEasy/CDRDAO. I tried the tricks with MPEGAV instead of MPEG2 directory in the settings of DVD2SVCD or tried PBC use selection/playlist. Nothing helped.
Bottom line: do I have to live frustrated given that my DVD player is too old and cannot handle SVCDs with subs, or is there something I'm doing wrong or is there some other setting I didn't knew about ???

Thank you guys ... and girls of course :)

Simple answer is YES Have a read at _www.vcdeasy.com in the DVD Players list for your model and read all the user comments, there may be some light in there, maybe not.

Thank you ChickenMan, I'm on my way to the pointed webpage. I play with the thought to buy a new one :D Not only for the above reason, but the 2 kiddies I have are trying to put a monopol on the one we have now

I think CM meant this site:

@ teutonu
Better buy 2. You can wait that everyone wants his own player :D

Maybe you would also want to try iAuthor to mux your subtitles. Submux isn't that compatible ...

For iAuthor how to have a look at my old and already stopped site

Danke, das hilft weiter :D and talking about 2 players to buy ... the youngest is only 9 weeks old, but you are right, coz you'll never now with the young cyber-generation when they start ...

Just came back from buying a CyberHome dvd 402 (from Saturn) - is there anybody out there who knows if it is a halfway good player ? I have two weeks time to turn it back :D

regarding the iAuthor - i will give it a try ...

Thanks for the support guys !!
