SVCD Audio Problem (might be in the wrong section, not sure).

I tried to rip a dvd using smartripper and also used dvd encrypter but everytime I have done this there is no audio. I checked the settings to make sure the audio settings where correct but this still did not help. My DVD drive can play the movies with audio and picture. I even uninstalled and reinstalled both of the ripping programs but this did not help. Thanks in advance for the help.

The Thread heading is talking about SVCD's, but above your talking about just ripping a DVD with SmartRipper or DVD Decrypter. I'm a little confused as exactly where the problem lies.

As you ripping a DVD to your HD then converting this to a SVCD, which appears to have no audio? If so, what Tutorial/guide/software are you using to this ?

Thanks for the reply Chickenman; When I rip the DVD the files that are extracted have no audio; when I use dvd2svcd to convert to svcd the program says there is an error because no audio files can be found.

Use DVD Decrypter in FILE mode and select ALL files (Ctrl-A will select all) and rip to hard drive into a VIDEO_TS folder. Click on the VIDEO_TS.IFO file to play the movie, does it now have sound ?

What software player are you trying to play them with ? In DVD Decrypters IFO mode (via Stream Processing) it will tell you what audio streams are present as well. I can assure you, a full file rip with DVD Decrypter will play exactly as on you DVD Player if you use WinDVD or PowerDVD to play the extracted files.

???

CM, I have tried 3 different programs: WinDVD, ATI Video CD, and Windows Media Player; The video shows up on all of them but there is no audio.

Check in the Video Master Control (bouble click the small Speaker bottom right in the task bar) than you dont have Wave or Video audio muted (in fact none should be muted).

The audio card plays zero involvement in the ripping process, it only gets used on playback. By the way, does the original DVD play okay with WinDVD direct from your DVD reader?

So the original plays okay with WinDVD, but when you extract the dvd in FILE mode (selecting all files) to a VIDEO_TS folder, they play video only & no audio. Hmm... if this is true then I have no idea what the problem is. I would not consider that possible.
