Sun Java 1.41_02

A word of caution to Opera users.
This version is known to cause crashes at certain sites.
Tried it myself got the crash and reverted back to 1.4101.

The new version is mainly aimed for up-to-date *nix systems, where the older version did not work properly.
So why did they introduce new bugs for the Windows version ? :D

When, oh WHEN are IBM going to issue their version of 1.4 ?

The IBM 1.3 was better optimized, and faster than Sun's 1.3 - but for some recent stuff (eg. the "arachnophilia" html editor), 1.3 doesn't cut it any more.

PS. Thanks for the heads up - if I go to Sun's version, I'll avoid THIS one!

I don't know really, nor I intend to "upgrade" my existing 1.41_01.
1.41_02 is mainly made to work properly with browsers and applications compiled under *nix with gcc 3.x
You had to compile 1.41_01 yourself (out of the 45+ megabytes SDK version) to make java console work with applications under anything more than gcc 2.9. Actually there is also an alternative compilation available on the net (the blackdown.org one) which works fine with new gcc versions, so I don't need the new version at all.
